Day 1: Arrival Amman - Amman City TourAfter passing through Immigration and Customs control, proceed to the Arrivals Hall where your English speaking driver will be waiting. Begin your holiday by undertaking a tour of downtown Amman and visiting the Citadel and the Roman Theatre before checking-in to your hotel. Overnight: Amman Day 2: Jerash - AjlounThis morning we head to Jerash, one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. With an English speaking guide, enter through Hadrian's Arch for a 2 hour guided tour. Continue exploring on your own before returning to the entrance gates to meet your driver and travel to Ajloun. Visit the castle, a fine example of Islamic architecture, with sweeping views over the Jordan Valley. Return to Amman. Overnight: Amman Day 3: Mt Nebo - Madaba - Kerak - Shobak - PetraToday we start our drive along the Kings' Highway, an ancient caravan route, to Mt. Nebo where God showed Moses the Promised Land before he died. From the lookout view the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho, and the Mountains of Jerusalem. We then drive to Madaba, famous for the detailed mosaic map of the Holy Lands discovered on the floor of the St George Church during renovations. Continuing south along the Highway we arrive at the top of Wadi Mujib, a gorge which plunges to the Dead Sea 420m below sea level. We head south to explore the Crusader Castle of Karak Castle, built in 1132/34 by King Baldwin I. of Jerusalem. Time permitting, stop at Shobak Castle, also built by Baldwin I. Drive to Petra. Overnight: Petra Day 4: PetraHave breakfast then meet with your English speaking guide for a 3-4 hour tour of the rose-red city of Petra. Walk the 1.2km long Siq (chasm) passing shrines, tombs and carvings before exiting to the breathtaking sight of the Treasury. Walk the Street of Facades, passing the Roman Theatre to reach the Royal Tombs. See the Byzantine Church, Temple of the Winged Lions and Great Temple. At the museum your tour ends. Spend the rest of the day exploring more of the city or climb to the Monastery and/or High Place of Sacrifice. Make your own way back to your hotel for overnight. Overnight: Petra Day 5: Petra (or Little Petra) - Wadi RumThis morning, either return to Petra to continuing exploring the ruins of the city or drive the short distance to Little Petra, where the caravans used to rest on the fertile plains before entering Petra or heading away on one of the trade routes. Little Petra provided the accommodation and eateries for the cameleers. See rare examples of Nabataean paintings on the ceilings. A short distance and easy walk from Little Petra is the remains of a Neolithic Village which dates back to 9,000-5,500 BC. Transfer to the beautiful desert valley of Wadi Rum, made famous by T E Lawrence. Freshen up at your campsite before climbing into the back of a 4x4 Jeep for a 2-3 hour tour. As you make your way through the canyons and across the vast tracks of red sand, see ancient inscriptions, extraordinarily coloured sand dunes and majestic mountains. Return to your camp to watch the sun set before enjoying a traditional Jordanian dinner under the stars. Overnight Wadi Rum Camp Day 6: Wadi Rum - Dead SeaFollowing breakfast, drive along the Dead Sea Highway to the northern shores where you hotel is located. Check-in to your hotel then try floating in the Sea, 7 times saltier than regular seawater. The 30+ minerals in the water make it the world's largest nature spa. Coat yourself in the black mud found in large pots along the foreshore. Once dry, wash off in the Sea and feel how smooth and clean your skin feels. The hotel also has a spa centre for additional pampering treatments (extra cost). Day 7: Dead SeaA full day to laze by a pool or return to the Sea.
